JAKARTA – Director General of Oil and Gas Evita Legowo tells if the problem shortage (deficit) of gas supply in Java is not because gas is exported. But the deficit occurred because of problems that exist in the upstream production.

“Shortage in Java, not for export, but due to problems in the upstream,” he said, after the inauguration of Use Natural Gas Distribution Network for Household and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding Natural Gas Distribution Network for Household in 2010, the office of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Thursday ( 18/3/2010).

The need for as many as 30 million standard cubic feet (mmscfd) can not be fulfilled. In fact, supply terkontrak if PGN has still not fulfilled. “The main cause is that 30 mmscfd it,” he explained.

For that, there are several options that can be done in resolving the deficit problem of the gas. But unfortunately, the option to say no more.

Evita also said it would coordinate with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and the minister of state enterprises to overcome the problem. “There bebrerapa option, we hope will be the decision,” he added.

When mentioned about the possibility of import of gas, he explains it is not possible since there is no shelter tenpat (receiving terminal) at the moment. “If imports later when I have it receiving terminal, so now we can not import,” he said
